Why do we carge VAT?

Events, conferences and exhibitions are a business activity that trigger an obligation to register for VAT because within the EU. The 'place of supply' rules for a number of services related to events is generally deemed to be the EU country in which they take place.

The current ‘place of supply’ rules determine the country in which you need to charge and account for VAT. These rules are in line with international standards set out by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), guidelines can be found on the OECD website.

If the UK leaves the EU without an agreement, the main VAT ‘place of supply’ rules will remain the same for UK businesses.

In order to be able to charge local VAT a VAT registration in that EU country is required. There is also a requirement for an organisation to register for VAT.

Our VAT Number for the UK is

GB 314690606

Why do I have to pay VAT as Business!

You refer to the intra-Community supply and acquisition of goods occurs where goods
are dispatched or transported between businesses in different Member States (MS) of the European Union (EU).
An event or conference does NOT tranfer goods nor services from one country to another, therefore the 'place of supply' rule applies and you need to pay local VAT.
